\[changed] \[changed] navigation bar redesign we moved the navigation to the left to create a cleaner layout and improve usability with the sidebar always visible (and collapsible), it’s easier to switch between key sections without losing focus on your work \[added] \[added] new "projects" page we designed the new projects page to make it easier to stay organized and productive by combining a clear index with a detailed view, you can explore projects more intuitively, switch context faster, and work without losing your place the projects page now gives you a desktop style experience for browsing and managing your work you can use the folder navigation panel to navigate projects easily open projects in the folder content panel to see folder contents, metadata like created dates and file counts, and take actions such as compare and create folder quickly jump back into work with the new recent files section at the top of the detail view \[added] \[added] save more insights introducing the ability to “save” more insights and interactions directly from the ui, so you can bookmark and organize all your work the complete list of "savable" entities now includes chats chat with sets sets comparisons patent families chat with inventions saved chat with sets , chat with inventions and patent families , are grouped directly under the dataset you can open them by clicking the blue “x insights” link in the dataset’s metadata row hovering over the dataset row and selecting the show insights button that appears this grouping keeps datasets and their insights together, so you can quickly review findings in the context of the underlying patents \[added] \[added] navigable breadcrumbs breadcrumbs are now shown in more places across the workspace, including projects detail view saved comparisons saved datasets they provide a clear path of where you are and can be clicked to jump back to any folder quickly , making navigation across complex project structures much smoother \[changed] \[changed] dataset page header redesign the new design centralizes key actions, improves visibility, and creates a cleaner layout so you can act on datasets with fewer clicks actions such as compare dataset, chat with set, export, and save are now grouped together in a consistent row above the dataset navigation tabs (families, overview, tracking) are cleaner and more prominent \[added] \[added] new "compare datasets" pop up introducing a brand new compare modal for selecting and comparing datasets browse datasets in a split view with the project tree on the left and dataset details on the right while seeing important context like number of families, filters applied, insights, created date select one or more datasets and launch comparisons seamlessly \[added] \[added] persistent chat history we now also persist all chat with set and chat with invention conversations, including unsaved converations you can search or browse past chats and bookmark them to revisit them later \[added] \[added] llm filter enhancements the filters embedded with the llm filter during creation can also be viewed when an llm filter is applied llm filters were also sped up 4x from 2 patents/sec to 8 patents/sec \[added] \[added] search suggestions we’ve introduced search as you type suggestions to the search bar for all of the new search types this includes both autocomplete suggestions as well as suggestions from your search history \[fixed] \[fixed] many miscellaneous bug fixes improved accuracy of orgnisation search results which previously also inlcuded near matches eg "tubel" woud also match "tubes" which would not happen anymore improved accuracy of the patent assignee/organisation field tech maturity graph no longer displays data incorrectly as a % exporting of large dataset would hang indefinitely or error out, this is now fixed and the system is now equipped to deal with large exports better searching a large list of publication numbers is much more performant and less prone to errors reduced hallucinations and improved consistency in the llm filtering results counts in the filters did not always match the counts presented in the graphs publication number search can now search on more (20 000 publication numbers) if the publication number does not include a kind code previously this limit of 20 000 publication numbers could only be achieved if the kind code was included in the publication numbers fixed the problem where the chat would unintentionally trigger scouting for emerging technologies \[added] \[added] filtering on country of origin we now support filtering the dataset on the country of origin we support filtering on country of origin of the patent's organization as well as the patent's ultimate owner the country of origin filters can be found under the "advanced filters" \[added] \[added] graphs for country of origin to dashboard we added graphs to visualize the distribution of the country of origin statistics in the dashboard we added the following graphs families, per country of origin this chart shows the distribution of patent families across different countries of origin each bar or slice represents the number of patent families owned by companies headquartered in that country improvement rate, per country of origin this chart shows the average yearly improvement rate segmented by country of origin the improvement rate reflects how quickly a technology improves in terms of performance per cost, and is based on the cycle time (speed of iteration) and knowledge flow (impact of those iterations) cycle time, per country of origin this chart shows the average cycle time segmented by country of origin cycle time measures how quickly new generations of a technology appear, with shorter times indicating faster iteration knowledge flow, per country of origin this chart shows the average knowledge flow segmented by country of origin knowledge flow reflects how impactful new inventions are, measured by how often they are cited by later inventions in the first three years after publication \[removed] \[removed] graphs about organization quality we have removed the following graphs from the dashboard improvement rate, per organization cycle time, per organization knowledge flow, per organization 5 may 2025 \[removed] \[removed] unused predefined questions we have removed and merged some of the predefined questions inside the chat functionality the following predefined questions have been removed from the predefined questions technology comparison removed completely from the list emerging technology scouting baked into the technology scouting technology summary merged into follow up questions \[added] \[added] suggesting follow up questions in chat in the chat, we now generate follow up questions to help you through some predefined steps for example technology scouting scout for technologies within a technological field (optional) evaluate for application area requires you to provide an application area as input to evaluate the scouted technologies for (optional) summarize technologies will summarize the scouted technologies in the chat, we let an llm generate follow up questions to help you explore and learn more about specific technologies \[added] \[added] support for reasoning models throughout the application, we added the support for reasoning models reasoning models are better at complex tasks and are generally more accurate at the expense of speed we have added a button to control whether to use the reasoning model reasoning application we have been upgrading the llm models (non reasoning) used to align best with their use case chat openai's 4 1 model chat with invention openai's 4 1 mini model chat with insight openai's model all of the models have been configured to optimally use their context window this means that all models use their maximum output token limit to ensure that long responses can be streamed to you we have made significant efforts to mitigate and reduce the halucinations that have been reported in chat with set \[fixed] \[fixed] publication search not able to find existing publication number recently a bug was introduced that caused publication search to not be able to find publication numbers that exits this was fixed \[fixed] \[fixed] timeouts where data was accessed by publication number recently a bug was introduced that caused timeouts on endpoints accessing large lists of publication numbers for example in publication search publication number filter listing publications inside the chat with set screen \[fixed] \[fixed] organizations and ultimate owners in the family card were not matching those in the filters in some cases, it happened that the organizations and ultimate onwers that were shown in the family card were not shown inside the filters this is fixed now 23 april 2025 \[added] \[added] introducing the new 'agentic search' a new ai agent driven technology search type agentic search deploys an ai agent that interprets your query, explores related patents, reads through them, and learns what’s truly relevant — all to deliver better, more precise results the ai agent also tunes and picks the best similarity threshold for your query to ensure that what you see is more accurate unlike the static threshold value for the legacy smart search and exact search types you can find the new and old search types by clicking on the menu option and enabling the advanced search settings \[added] \[added] step by step progress view for patent discovery we’ve introduced a new progress tracker that shows you exactly how the system finds patents for your search you’ll now see a step by step breakdown of how your input is interpreted, how patents are explored, and how the most relevant results are selected — all in real time this new view gives you more transparency, more control, and clearer insight into how results are being generated \[changed] \[changed] updated ui/ux of the search and search history pages the search page now has a new updated look with quality of life changes \[added] \[added] applicant field to patent family cards we have added a new property applicant propterty to the patent family card \[fixed] \[fixed] bugs with various chat components if you initiate a chat with publication , close it before/while it's streaming and initiate a new chat with publication the chat window would stream the response from the first chat window this has now been fixed we have fixed the "retry" action for the first chat with insight message \[fixed] \[fixed] bugs with exporting datasets fixed the bug where the export button in a dataset would get stuck in the processing state or be unresponsive to clicks the exported file would have missing data in a few columns now all columns will have appropriate data points \[fixed] \[fixed] bugs with publication number search searching with certain publication number formats would cause the system to match millions of patents incorrectly the system now handles unknown publicaiton number formats better \[fixed] \[fixed] empty tracking emails or misformated tracking emails tracking workflows would send out empty emails daily due to errors arising in the automated processing of the workflows now, the system would handle these errors gracefully and will not send out empty notifications formatting of some tracking workflow emails has been fixed \[fixed] \[fixed] minor bugs with datasets and insights clicking the "thumbs down" icon on a patent family card would not actually remove it from the returned result, the application now ensures that downvoted patents do not show up in the list insight would show multiple year graphs even when the publication date range filter would be set to a single year the insights now show a dynamically scaled time axis that is more considerate of the filters 1 april 2025 \[changed] \[changed] updated ui/ux for the filters we've updated the filter section of the dataset to make it more intuitive and user friendly wider layout the filter panel is now wider, improving readability and making it easier to craft and manage your filters simplified selection it's now more intuitive to find, select, and deselect organizations (e g , in the organization or ultimate owner filters), making it easier to build the dataset you need streamlined design less frequently used filters have been moved into a new “advanced filters” section, giving more focus to the most common ones \[fixed] \[fixed] bugfixes related to llm filtering we've resolved several issues to make working with llm filters more reliable and consistent flickering progress states fixed an issue where the progress indicator for llm filters would occasionally flicker incorrect filter display resolved a bug where llm filters from a different dataset could briefly appear ui polishing made various small visual and styling improvements to ensure a smoother experience overall 24 march 2025 \[notice] \[notice] unsaved sets older than 1 month will now be deleted periodically we introduced an automated process that checks for and deletes any unsaved sets that are older than a month every night outside business hours \[added] \[added] 'llm filtering' let our ai agent search for patents matching your custom search instruction the llm filtering feature allows you to instruct an llm powered assistant to filter the patent families in your dataset based on any condition for example, you can instruct the assistant to " search for all patents that relate to cryogenic carbon capture " and the assistant will then evaluate every patent from your dataset one by one to check if it's relevant per your instruction at the time of release llm filtering allows you to queue 1 filtering task per dataset and a total of 3 filtering tasks across all datasets combined \[added] \[added] get help from one of getfocus' analysts directly in odin we have added a chat feature that allows you to connect with one of our analysts our analysts are available to assist you with any questions you may have you can find the chat option at the top right corner of the screen, next to the menu \[fixed] \[fixed] view range interaction on organisation size and organisation quality graphs the charts years range selection would incorrectly behave as an additional publication year filter for the graphs inside the organization size and organization quality categories this has now been fix such that the "view range" selection only affects the axis boundaries for temporal graphs \[fixed] \[fixed] the similarity histogram now correctly displays the total number of patent families for each similarity score previously, the histogram in the right hand side filters showed the count of patent families per individual similarity score however, it should have displayed the cumulative total of patent families up to (and including) that score this issue has now been resolved \[fixed] \[fixed] performance issues for comparison graphs the tooltips in the comparison graphs were lagging in some cases this has now been resolved
