18 September 2026

[ADDED] Confirmation step before any deletion action

Deleting a saved chat, dataset, or any other object now requires explicit confirmation to help prevent accidental data loss.

When you choose Delete from the context menu, a confirmation dialog appears before the object is permanently removed. Cancelling or closing the dialog leaves the object unchanged.

[CHANGED] Upgraded AI models across key analysis and chat workflows

We’ve upgraded selected workflows to GPT-5.6, improving the quality and reliability of responses across LLM filtering, Chat with Set, Chat with Invention, and Chat with Insight.

CwS Deep Dive now uses GPT-5.6 Sol for orchestration and GPT-5.6 Luna for Resource Table generation, improving how analyses are planned, structured, and translated into per-patent results.

Chat with Invention and Chat with Insight now use GPT-5.6 Sol in reasoning mode and GPT-5.6 Luna in standard mode. CwS Explore and manually applied LLM filters have also been upgraded to GPT-5.6 Luna.

Automatically generated LLM filters in Agents remain unchanged, preserving the existing balance between scalability and performance.

[CHANGED] Missing publication IDs are now shown before opening search results

Previously, searches could automatically redirect to the resulting dataset even when some publication IDs were not found, making it easy to miss which patents were excluded.

When patents cannot be found, the search page now remains open and clearly displays the missing publication IDs for review before you continue to the dataset manually. If all patents are found, the existing automatic redirect remains unchanged.

This behavior is supported across Technology, Organization, Publication Number, and Similar Invention searches.

[FIXED] YoY change on the Dashboard now reflects actual year-over-year patent growth

Previously, YoY Change in the Technology Readiness × Improvement Rate dashboard measured how much the current year's patents increased the cumulative patent portfolio, rather than comparing annual patent activity year over year.

The metric now calculates true YoY patent growth by comparing the two most recent complete calendar years. For example, in 2026, it compares the number of patents published in 2025 against 2024, while excluding the incomplete 2026 data.

The corrected calculation is applied consistently across the dashboard and its XLS exports, providing a more accurate view of whether patent activity for a technology is growing or declining.

[FIXED] Misalignment between family count banner and patent cards

Previously, the family count banner and patent family cards could appear misaligned for some users, resulting in an inconsistent layout across different screens or devices.

The alignment has been corrected so the family count and cards now display consistently within the dataset view.

[FIXED] Google Patents button shown only when a valid page is available

Previously, the Google Patents button could appear even when no corresponding Google Patents page existed, leading users to a broken or unavailable destination.

The button is now only displayed when a valid Google Patents page is available for the patent.

3 September 2026

[ADDED] Significant updates to Monitoring Beta

Monitoring is now available to a wider group of users. The feature remains in limited Beta while we continue to validate and improve the experience, but more users can now set up recurring tracking and Deep Dive workflows to monitor how their domains evolve over time.

Technology trajectories are now visualized on the 2×2 dashboard. When Monitoring creates multiple versions over time, the historical positions of a selected technology can be shown together and connected as a trajectory, with the current position emphasized. TIR boundaries are calculated consistently across the displayed versions, making it easier to see the direction and pace of technological development rather than comparing snapshots individually.

Monitored Deep Dive setup now includes Test Runs with the Planning mode. In addition to reviewing and revising the proposed Resource Table structure before approving a monitored Deep Dive, you can now run a test to preview how the signal will be interpreted. This helps verify the expected fields and analysis behavior before committing to recurring runs at scale.

Trackers can now be deleted and recreated. Previously, once monitoring had been configured for a folder, that folder remained tied to its original tracker even after monitoring was disabled. You can now permanently delete a tracker—including its monitoring history and signals—and set up a new tracker for the folder when needed.

Monitored Deep Dives now use explicitly selected datasets. We’ve removed dynamic Deep Dive signals, which automatically included datasets added to a monitored folder later. When configuring a monitored Deep Dive, you now select exactly which datasets it should run against, making the scope and expected usage more predictable.

Monthly monitored Deep Dive usage is now visible in the UI. You can see how many monitored Deep Dives you have remaining for the month, based on your package’s monthly limit—30 for Research and 100 for Strategic. The setup flow prevents configurations that would exceed your available monthly allowance.

Monitored folders are now clearly indicated in the project tree. Visual indicators make it easier to identify which folders have Monitoring enabled directly from the Projects hierarchy without navigating inside the folder.

Monitored Deep Dive exports are now named after their dataset. When monitored Deep Dives generate Resource Tables across multiple datasets, each exported file automatically uses its corresponding dataset name instead of the chat title, making outputs easier to distinguish and organize for reporting.

[CHANGED] Revised LLM filter UI for easier viewing and clearer controls

Previously, reviewing the full details of an applied LLM filter required additional navigation, making it cumbersome to quickly check how a dataset was being filtered. Applied filters can now be expanded inline to view their complete title and instructions without leaving the dataset view.

We’ve also updated the control for unapplying LLM filters. Previously, this action used a trash icon, which could incorrectly suggest that the filter would be permanently deleted. The revised UI now makes it clear that the filter is simply being disabled and remains available to reapply at any time.

[FIXED] Inconsistent text formatting across chat interfaces

Previously, markdown formatting could render inconsistently in some chat responses, particularly in Deep Dive Planning mode, causing elements such as headings, lists, and special characters to occasionally display incorrectly.

We’ve improved markdown handling across chat interfaces so generated content and planning output now render more consistently and remain easier to read.

[FIXED] New Deep Dive chats not immediately appearing in chat history

Previously, newly created Deep Dive chats could occasionally disappear from the chat history until the page was refreshed, particularly when the existing chat history was still loading.

This has been fixed, and new Deep Dive chats now appear and remain visible in the chat history immediately after creation.

[FIXED] Deep Dive chats occasionally being saved as “New Chat”

Previously, some Deep Dive conversations could be saved with the default “New Chat” title, particularly when users navigated away before the analysis and automatic title generation had finished.

This has been fixed, and Deep Dive chats now receive and retain their generated titles consistently, making previous analyses easier to identify in chat history.

[FIXED] Helper Wizard repeatedly reappearing and blocking certain actions

Previously, dismissing the Helper Wizard was not consistently remembered, causing the pop-up to reappear after page refreshes and potentially obscure particular actions such as View Dashboard.

The Helper Wizard now remembers when it has been dismissed and no longer repeatedly interrupts the user experience.

12 August 2026

[ADDED] Built-in patent metadata in Deep Dive Resource Tables

Resource Tables now include patent titles, publication IDs, Ultimate Owners, countries of origin, and application, priority, first-publication, and publication dates as built-in metadata.

You can review these details under Essential Information without adding duplicate columns. The metadata is also available to Deep Dive and included in Resource Table exports.

[ADDED] Save existing Agents chats to project folders

You can now use Export Chat before starting landscaping to save an Agents conversation to a project folder of your choice.

This allows older Agents projects created before automatic chat saving to be used in folder-based workflows such as Domain Monitoring.

[CHANGED] Clearer TIR history charts

The Improvement Rate History chart on the TRL x TIR dashboard now includes a visible scale and adapts to the range of the underlying values.

Small fluctuations are no longer visually exaggerated, while significant changes remain easy to identify. Exact values are still available when hovering over the chart.

[CHANGED] More intuitive Deep Dive Signal cards

Clickable areas on Signal cards are now easier to distinguish from informational elements.

This makes opening and managing monitored Deep Dives more intuitive.

[CHANGED] Project names in Deep Dive completion emails

Deep Dive completion emails now show the project name in the subject line, making notifications easier to identify.

The Signal name remains available inside the email.

[FIXED] Reliable project-folder navigation

Navigating through project breadcrumbs or selecting Open in folder after saving, moving, or duplicating an item could sometimes open the wrong folder.

Navigation now opens the expected folder and keeps the breadcrumbs and displayed content in sync, including after working with datasets and Chat with Set.

[FIXED] Duplicate responses in monitored Deep Dives

A single monitored Deep Dive request could sometimes produce two AI responses and duplicate Resource Tables.

Each request now produces one response and one corresponding Resource Table.

[FIXED] Consistent scheduling information for monitored Deep Dives

The next-run date shown on a Signal card could previously differ from the configured cadence or the information shown inside the Signal.

Next-run information now updates after cadence changes and remains consistent throughout Domain Monitoring.

[FIXED] Clearer generated Signal names

Signal names could previously be generated from the AI response instead of the original monitoring question.

Generated names now reflect the question being monitored, making Signals easier to recognize.

[FIXED] Accurate patent-family counts for combined similarity searches

Searches combining multiple Vector Search criteria could show a patent-family count that did not match the returned results.

The displayed count now accurately reflects the patent families in the results.

[FIXED] Older monitored Deep Dive versions load correctly

Older monitored Deep Dive versions now restore their saved messages and Resource Table information correctly when reopened.

[FIXED] Correct alignment of suggested chat questions

Suggested questions in general chat now align consistently, making them easier to scan and select.

23 July 2026

[ADDED] Editable technology labels on the TRL x TIR dashboard

Technology labels are now easier to understand and can be edited directly from the TRL x TIR dashboard.

You can adjust generated labels to keep technology names clear and recognizable throughout Domain Monitoring.

[ADDED] Organization and Ultimate Owner views in maturity comparisons

You can now switch the Organization Maturity chart in dataset comparisons between Organization and Ultimate Owner views.

This lets you compare patent-family maturity using the ownership perspective most relevant to your analysis.

[FIXED] Protected monitored Deep Dives during active runs

Previously, editing and lifecycle controls remained available while a monitored Deep Dive was running.

Editing, enabling, and disabling are now unavailable until the active run has finished, preventing configuration changes during processing.

[FIXED] Correct Deep Dive patent limit for Strategic users

The Deep Dive option previously showed a 200-patent limit to Strategic users.

Strategic users now see the correct limit of 1,000 patents.

15 July 2026

[ADDED] First Publication Date filtering for family-level patent analysis

You can now filter patent datasets by First Publication Date, allowing you to focus on when an invention first became public rather than when subsequent family members were published. This is especially useful for tracking new inventions and reducing duplicate results from later jurisdictional filings.

First Publication Date is available alongside the existing Date filters and supports exact dates as well as custom date ranges for more precise analyses.

To improve transparency, First Publication Date is displayed directly on the patent family card, making it easy to understand why a family matches your selected filters.

[ADDED] Planning mode for monitored Deep Dives in Domain Monitoring Beta

We've introduced Planning when configuring monitored Deep Dives, giving you the opportunity to review how the analysis will be structured before it runs at scale.

After entering a prompt, the system generates a proposed analysis plan and Resource Table structure, which you can review, revise, or approve before creating the monitored Deep Dive.

This provides greater transparency and control, helping ensure your monitored analyses capture exactly the information you need before processing begins.

10 July 2026

[CHANGED] Increased Deep Dive and Domain Monitoring limits

We’ve changed the limits for Deep Dive across user plans.

The patent limit now applies to regular Deep Dives as well as monitored Deep Dives created through Domain Monitoring.

Plan	Patent Limit per Deep Dive	Scheduled Deep Dive Signal Dataset Runs
Research	200 patents	30 per user per month
Strategic	1,000 patents	100 per user per month
Unlimited	1,000 patents	Unlimited

A Scheduled Deep Dive Signal dataset run means one scheduled Deep Dive applied to one dataset during a Domain Monitoring run. For example, one scheduled Deep Dive across 10 datasets uses 10 dataset runs.

[FIXED] Clearer disabled monitoring state

Previously, disabled monitoring could still show a green status icon, making it look active.

Disabled monitoring now has a clearer visual state, so it is easier to understand whether monitoring is currently active or paused.

[FIXED] Planning mode control in Deep Dive Resource Table

Previously, Planning mode could not always be turned off from the Resource Table chat panel.

This has been fixed, giving users consistent control over Planning mode while working inside Deep Dive.

[FIXED] Improved Deep Dive Signal cards

Long Deep Dive Signal prompts could take up too much space on the Signal card.

Signal cards now keep long prompts to a single line, making the monitoring overview easier to scan.

[FIXED] More reliable monitored Deep Dive retries

In some retry cases, monitored Deep Dives could produce an empty Resource Table even when relevant results were available.

This has been fixed, so retried monitored Deep Dives are more reliable and keep the expected patent evidence.

[FIXED] Follow-up questions from monitoring results

Follow-up questions started from the Domain Monitoring results modal could sometimes lose the relevant dataset filters, causing empty Resource Tables.

This has been fixed, so follow-up Deep Dive questions from monitoring results now use the correct filters.

[FIXED] Domain Monitoring interface polish

We fixed several visual inconsistencies in the Domain Monitoring interface, including the Monitoring tab, project tabs, Signal cards, and Deep Dive Signal modal.

These updates make the Domain Monitoring experience cleaner, more consistent, and easier to read.

6 July 2026

[ADDED] Domain Monitoring Beta

We’ve released the first beta version of Domain Monitoring for enabled users.

Domain Monitoring helps you keep important technology domains up to date after the initial research project is finished. You can monitor a project on a recurring schedule instead of manually checking for new patent activity and rerunning the same analyses.

You can now schedule recurring Deep Dive Signals, track changes in the TRL x TIR matrix over time, review monitoring history, and export the TRL x TIR dashboard for reporting and stakeholder updates.

This is the first beta release of Domain Monitoring. More automation, reporting, triggers, and alerting capabilities will be added in future releases.

[FIXED] PNG export for the TRL x TIR dashboard

Previously, downloading a PNG export from the Domain Monitoring TRL x TIR dashboard could fail for some users.

This has been fixed, and PNG exports from the dashboard should now complete more reliably.

[FIXED] Chart export issues

Some chart downloads could fail when the selected graph type was not fully supported by the export process.

Chart exports now handle these cases more reliably, reducing errors when downloading visualizations.

[FIXED] Microsoft SSO login issue

Some users were unable to log in with Microsoft SSO due to an edge case in the sign-in flow.

This has been fixed, and affected users should now be able to sign in normally.

[FIXED] Unexpected redirect after checking Agentic Workflow results

Previously, clicking Check results before an Agentic Workflow had finished could cause an unexpected redirect later, even after returning to the workflow.

This has been fixed, so users can check workflow progress and continue navigating without being unexpectedly sent to another page.

10 June 2026

[ADDED] Technology Search and LLM Filter helper modules

We’ve added short helper modules to guide users when writing natural language searches and LLM filters.

The search helper explains how to write stronger vector search queries using technology, application, and context, instead of relying on keyword lists.

The LLM filter helper explains how to turn broad search results into more precise datasets by writing clear yes/no decision rules, including what must be included, what must be excluded, and how borderline cases should be handled.

Both helpers include concrete examples of weak and strong inputs, making it easier for users to get better results from Technology Search and LLM filtering workflows.

[CHANGED] Improved text selection in Agents technology scouting

Previously, technology names in the scouting list were difficult to copy because text selection was not supported within selectable rows.

You can now select and copy technology names and descriptions directly from the scouting list, while preserving the existing click behavior for including or excluding technologies from the landscape. This makes it easier to review, share, and work with scouted technologies outside of Agents.

[FIXED] Chat with Set Deep Dive not visible to certain users

Some users were unable to access Chat with Set Deep Dive or view Deep Dive conversations they had already created, preventing them from continuing their analysis.

This has been fixed, and Deep Dive chats are now accessible as expected, allowing users to create, reopen, and continue working with their existing Deep Dives.

29 May 2026

[ADDED] Subscription plan management for organization admins

Previously, organization admins could view the subscription plan assigned to each user, but could not manage plan assignments themselves.

Organization admins can now switch users between Research and Strategic plans directly from the Team page, provided there are available licenses for the selected plan. This makes it easier to manage access and allocate seats across teams without requiring support intervention.

In addition, pending users can now be assigned a license before completing sign-up, allowing teams to reserve and organize seats in advance. License assignment for pending users is managed by GetFocus admins.

[CHANGED] Improved visualization of Deep Dive planning output

Previously, planning output in Chat with Set Deep Dive could become difficult to distinguish from the actual answers to user questions.

Planning steps are now displayed in a clearer, visually separated format, making it easier to differentiate Resource Table planning from final analysis results.

28 May 2026

[ADDED] "Save As" feature for creating independent datasets from filtered subsets

You can now use Save As directly from the dataset view (inside the three-dots menu) to save filtered subsets as entirely new datasets in any folder, without overwriting or duplicating the original dataset.

This makes it easier to branch research workflows, organize patents into categories, and preserve the original dataset while continuing deeper analysis on refined subsets.

[ADDED] Technology scouting fit classification in Agents

Agents now evaluates scouted technologies against the problem statement and boundary conditions before users proceed to landscaping.

Technologies are classified into Core fit, Plausible fit, and Weak fit, helping users distinguish strong candidates from more speculative or less realistic options, along with the reasoning behind each classification.

Core fit technologies are pre-selected by default, while Plausible and Weak fit technologies remain available as opt-in options. This improves trust in scouting results while still allowing users to explore adjacent or emerging technologies when needed.

[ADDED] Showing the workflow chat history in Agents project folder

When starting landscaping in Agents, the workflow conversation is now automatically saved as a non-editable chat snapshot inside the project folder.

This allows users to revisit the exact prompts, decisions, and iterations that were used to create a specific landscape, making workflows easier to track, understand, and audit over time.

The original chat in the Agents tab remains active and reusable, allowing users to continue iterating and creating new workflows independently from the saved project snapshot.

[CHANGED] Reasoning mode now persists across chat features

Previously, Reasoning mode selection would reset when navigating outside of a chat context, requiring users to repeatedly turn it back on during their chat workflows.

Reasoning mode selections are now persisted across all supported chat modals within the same browser, creating a more seamless and consistent experience when moving between Chat with Invention and general chat features.

[FIXED] Applied LLM filter indicator now always visible in dataset metadata

Previously, the applied LLM filter indicator was only visible when hovering over a dataset, making it easy to miss whether filters had actually been applied.

The LLM filter icon is now always displayed in its active state when filters are applied, while detailed pre- and post-filtering patent counts remain available on hover for additional context.

[FIXED] Comparison errors when using “Select all”

Previously, using Select all in comparisons could occasionally trigger errors because unsupported items (such as other comparisons) were selected alongside datasets.

This has been fixed, and Select all now correctly includes only comparable datasets, ensuring charts load and render as expected.

6 May 2026

[ADDED] In-progress message while Resource Table is being built

Previously, during longer Deep Dive processes, users could lose visibility into whether the Resource Table was still being generated once loading indicators disappeared.

Resource Tables now display a persistent in-progress message until all data has been fully populated, providing clearer feedback during long-running analyses.

[CHANGED] More structured and concise Resource Table outputs

Previously in Deep Dive, Resource Table responses could vary significantly in structure and verbosity, making it harder to generate consistently formatted outputs.

Resource Table generation now includes explicit output structure guidance, fallback behaviors, and example outputs for each column, resulting in shorter and more consistent answers with clearer formatting and more predictable behavior, including simple Yes/No answers.

[FIXED] Incorrect chat names generated in Deep Dive

Previously, Deep Dive chat names were generated based on the LLM's first response, leading to confusing titles such as error messages or incomplete answers.

This has been fixed, and chat names are now generated based on the user’s intent instead of the first AI response, resulting in clearer and more meaningful conversation titles.

1 May 2026

[ADDED] Clear indication of applied LLM filters in datasets

Previously, users could only see how many LLM filters were created, but not whether they were actually applied. This required manual inspection inside each dataset.

Dataset metadata now clearly indicates when LLM filters are applied, making it easier to identify filtered datasets without opening them.

[ADDED] Pre- and post-LLM filtering patent family counts in dataset metadata

Previously, users could not easily see how many patents were removed by LLM filtering without opening the dataset and removing the LLM filter manually.

Dataset metadata now displays both the number of patent families before and after LLM filtering, providing clearer visibility into filter impact at a glance.

[CHANGED] Tracking workflows now always include the latest results

Previously, tracking workflows could stop returning new results if a fixed end date was set in filters (e.g. publication year), often without users realizing it.

Tracking workflows now ignore all end date filters and always operate on an open-ended dataset, ensuring continuous updates and preventing silent failures over time.

[FIXED] Incorrect patent numbers in Deep Dive's Resource Table when adding a publication ID column

Previously, prompting Deep Dive to add a publication number column (which already exists by default) could result in incorrect or hallucinated patent IDs being displayed.

This has been fixed by preventing conflicts with reserved columns, ensuring Resource Table data remains accurate and consistent.

[FIXED] “Read more” button not consistently shown in Agentic Workflow LLM filters

Previously, the Read more option could fail to appear in Agents Landscaping step based on character count logic, even when part of the filter text was hidden.

This has been fixed, and Read more is now always shown whenever content is truncated, ensuring full visibility of LLM filters.

[FIXED] Patent references in chats not working after returning

Previously, clicking a patent reference in a chat would open the patent once, but after navigating away and returning, the same reference could trigger an error instead of reopening.

This has been fixed, and patent references in chats now work reliably across repeated interactions.

24 April 2026

[ADDED] A new quick start option in Deep Dive

We’ve added a new quick start example in Chat with Set – Deep Dive to help users generate structured patent tables more easily.

The Generate a custom table option provides a pre-built prompt for extracting key information (e.g. applicants, dates, summaries, inventive steps, and prior art signals) across the first 200 patents in a dataset, making it easier to get started with advanced table-based analysis.

[FIXED] Loading bar not consistently shown when returning to Deep Dive chat

Previously, the loading bar could disappear when users exited a Deep Dive chat and returned, making it unclear whether a response was still being processed.

This has been fixed, and loading indicators now display reliably when returning to an active chat.

[FIXED] Resource Table not persisting correctly after navigation

Previously, navigating outside of a Deep Dive chat could cause the Resource Table to appear empty or have missing columns upon return, even though data was present on the backend.

This has been fixed, and the Resource Table now correctly retains and displays all data on the frontend after navigation.

[FIXED] Long Deep Dive chat names causing export issues

Previously, very long chat names could prevent exported Resource Tables from opening correctly in Excel.

Chat names are now truncated to a maximum length of 200 characters to ensure exports open without issues.

[FIXED] “Read more” overlay display issues in Resource Table

Previously, the “Read more” interaction within the Resource Table in Deep Dive could display incorrectly.

This has been fixed, and the overlay now renders and behaves as intended.

15 April 2026

[ADDED] More control over how Deep Dive works

Deep Dive now includes a Planning toggle. Keep it on if you want to review the agent’s plan before it continues, or turn it off if you prefer a faster path to results.

This gives you more flexibility depending on whether you want hands-on control or a quicker, more direct workflow.

[ADDED] Quick start options for Deep Dive

New Quick start buttons help you launch common Deep Dive tasks in one click.

This makes it easier to get started, especially if you are new to Deep Dive or want inspiration for the kinds of questions it can answer.

[ADDED] A more flexible Deep Dive workspace

You can now reopen the Resource Table more easily from the chat view, and you can resize the split view between the chat and the table.

This makes it easier to switch between reading the answer and reviewing the patent-by-patent evidence behind it.

[FIXED] Deep Dive now keeps your place more reliably with improved breadcrumbs

When you open a patent family from the Resource Table and return, Odin now brings you back to the relevant chat instead of dropping you into an empty new chat state.

We’ve also made it easier to start a new chat when a filtered chat history is empty, so you don’t get stuck at a dead end.

[FIXED] Deep Dive agent progress is easier to follow

Progress updates in the Resource Table view now open automatically while Deep Dive is working.

This gives you better visibility into what the agent is doing without extra clicks.

[FIXED] Deep Dive is less likely to stop too early

Deep Dive is now less likely to say it does not have enough information when the current dataset already supports a useful answer.

This helps the feature stay focused on moving the analysis forward and delivering clearer results.

[FIXED] Saved insights now return you to the right place

We fixed an issue where saving insights in project-related workflows could send you to the wrong location afterward.

This makes saving and continuing your work feel more seamless.

10 April 2026

[ADDED] Chat with Set “Deep Dive” Beta for scalable, structured patent analysis

We’ve introduced Deep Dive mode in Chat with Set—–a major upgrade that allows you to analyze up to 200 patents simultaneously with significantly greater depth than standard Chat with Set (now Explore mode)—to a small number of users.

Deep Dive includes access to full patent descriptions, enabling more accurate answers and eliminating gaps where key details are not present in titles, abstracts, or claims (think Chat with Invention, at scale).

In addition to a high-level answer, Deep Dive builds a structured Resource Table where each patent is individually assessed against your question—allowing you to compare patents side by side and see exactly which inventions support each insight. The final answer is generated from this table.

You can refine your analysis by asking the agent to add, update, or remove columns, and continue asking follow-up questions without restarting the workflow. Each Deep Dive chat maintains a single Resource Table that evolves with your inputs.

This removes the need for manual, repetitive workflows (such as running Chat with Invention one-by-one and compiling results externally), enabling faster and more reliable workflows for use cases like competitive benchmarking, freedom-to-operate analysis, and art matrix creation.

[ADDED] “Select all” option for graph selection

You can now use a Select all option when choosing graphs in both Overview and Comparison pages.

This makes it easier to quickly include or exclude multiple graphs without selecting them one by one.

[ADDED] Prompting guidance links across input fields

We’ve added direct links to the Prompting Like a Pro guide across features that include input fields.

This makes it easier to access best practices and improve prompt quality directly within your workflow.

[ADDED] Guidance on manually adding technologies in Agents Beta

Users can now see a helpful message in the Scouting step informing them that additional technologies can be added manually in the next step (Landscaping).

This improves clarity and helps users better understand how to refine their technology list during the workflow.

[CHANGED] Default save location now set to current folder

Previously, saving, moving, or duplicating items would always default to the root folder, requiring extra navigation.

Now, these actions default to the current folder, making file management faster and more intuitive.

[FIXED] Missing indicators for large comparisons and inconsistency between legends

Previously, when viewing comparisons with more than 10 datasets, datasets beyond the 10th would not display their color indicators in the “+n more” modal, making it harder to distinguish between them.

Colors were also inconsistent among the legends of different graphs for the same datasets on the same comparison dashboard.

These issues have been fixed, and all datasets now display consistent color coding in the legends, ensuring clarity especially in large comparisons.

[FIXED] Loading states for large comparisons

Previously, creating large comparisons could cause a brief delay where graphs appeared unresponsive, making it unclear whether the system was working.

Proper loading states are now displayed, providing clear feedback to the user while graphs are being generated.

[FIXED] Chat state not preserved after navigation

Previously, when navigating away from a Chat with Set or Chat with Invention conversation (e.g. via patent links) and returning, users would land on the empty state for a new chat, requiring them to manually reopen the last conversation.

This has been fixed, and the most recent chat now automatically loads when returning via the breadcrumbs or the back button, ensuring a seamless experience.

30 March 2026

[CHANGED] Agents: More accurate, consistent, and controllable agentic workflows

We’ve introduced a major update to Agents Beta, improving how research briefs, technology scouting, search queries, and LLM filters are generated—resulting in more accurate and reliable patent datasets across the entire workflow.

Agents now uses a more structured approach to interpreting your input, ensuring consistency between steps and reducing errors caused by ambiguous or loosely defined instructions. Technology scouting has been refined to produce more meaningful groupings, avoiding both over- and under-segmentation.

A key addition is improved control during scoping: Agents now asks targeted questions about how broadly or strictly patents should be included, allowing you to directly influence dataset precision and coverage.

The underlying search and filtering logic has also been redesigned to better reflect your intent, with clearer rules, improved query generation, and more consistent handling of edge cases.

Overall, Agents Beta v2 delivers significantly higher-quality results with less manual iteration, while keeping the familiar, user-friendly workflow intact.

24 March 2026

[ADDED] Ability to pin patents for shortlisting and saving them as independent datasets

You can now pin individual patents (families or members) directly from the Families tab to create a lightweight shortlist for further analysis.

Pinned patents are accessible via the dedicated Pinned tab, allowing you to quickly toggle between the full dataset and your selected subset without modifications.

Pinned patents aren't impacted by filters, and are auto-saved inside the dataset. You can Chat with and export the pinned patents. They can be unpinned at any time.

Pinned patents can be saved as a new dataset with a single action, making it easy to turn your shortlist into a collection of patents decoupled from the original dataset (unlike saved patents), allowing for more flexible organization of your workspace.

[ADDED] Filtering options for Priority Year and Application Year

Previously, patent datasets could only be filtered by date on Publication Year and Expiration Year, which could lead to discrepancies when comparing results with external tools.

With this update, you can now filter patents by Priority Year and Application Year in addition to Publication Year. These filters can also be combined, giving you more flexibility and precision when exploring datasets.

16 March 2026

[ADDED] Subscription plan visibility for organization admins

Previously, organization admins could not see which subscription plan (Research or Strategic) each user in their team was assigned to, making it difficult to manage access and feature availability.

With this update, the Team page now displays the current plan for every user in the organization. Soon, admins will also be able to request plan changes for their team directly from the interface via a dropdown option.

[CHANGED] Improved reliability of manually applied LLM filters

This change improves the quality of manual LLM filtering while maintaining efficient processing for agentic workflows.

With this update, manually created and applied LLM filters now run on a higher-accuracy model to improve reliability and consistency. LLM filters generated automatically by Agents continue to use a more efficient model to support large-scale automated workflows.

[CHANGED] Improved image analysis in non-reasoning mode for Chat with Invention

Previously, Chat with Invention could return inaccurate answers about patent images when used in non-reasoning mode, leading to less reliable interpretation of visual content.

With this update, non-reasoning mode now uses a stronger image-capable model for better accuracy when analyzing patent figures and other visual elements. Reasoning mode remains unchanged.

03 March 2026

[ADDED] Image processing in patents and Chat with Invention

You can now access and analyze patent images in addition to text. Patent family cards include attachments, and Chat with Invention can interpret and reference visual content directly.

This update enables multimodal questions such as asking the system to explain a specific figure, table, or formula, with responses that combine insights from both text and images.

Image processing allows for deeper and more accurate patent analysis, especially for inventions where figures are essential to understanding the technology. It is currently not supported in workflows that involve multiple patents (Chat with Set, LLM filter), as well as AI Summary.

[ADDED] Resource creation modal when starting landscaping in Agents Beta

Previously, when users started the landscaping step, they would immediately be redirected to the project folder without any visibility into the subfolders created in the background, which could feel unclear or abrupt.

With this update, Agents Beta now displays a dedicated modal when landscaping begins, clearly communicating the name of the main project folder and how many subfolders are created.

[FIXED] Folder content filtering issues in Project Management

Previously, selection filters in the folder content view were not functioning correctly and did not trigger the expected backend calls, resulting in filters not being applied.

In addition, the “Show: …” actions in the folder structure did not expand the related insights. Selecting dependent insights such as Family, Chat with Set, or Chat with Invention did not navigate directly to the relevant view.

These issues have been fixed. Filters in the folder content page now apply correctly and open related insights intuitively.

[FIXED] Improved performance and UI behavior of global search in Project Management

Previously, global search in Project Management fetched up to 200 results at once, slowing down performance especially for broad queries. Search results were visually misaligned, and breadcrumbs linking to parent folders were not clickable.

These issues have been fixed. Global search now uses pagination, loading only the first 20 results initially and fetching additional results on demand for a faster and more responsive experience. Search results are also displayed correctly, and breadcrumbs are fully interactive, allowing seamless navigation to the relevant folder.

[FIXED] “Something went wrong” message on TIR Forecast graph

Previously, users on the Research package would see a “Something went wrong” error message on the TIR Forecast graph in the Overview and Comparison pages.

This has been fixed, and the TIR Forecast graph now behaves consistently with the other Strategic-only features.

[FIXED] Sharing not working in non-Chromium browsers

Previously, sharing folders, datasets, comparisons, and other resources would fail in non-Chromium browsers like Safari and Firefox. Users would see an error message, links would not copy correctly, and even manually copied links could not be imported by another account.

This has been fixed, and sharing now works across browsers.

18 February 2026

[FIXED] Internal server error raised when switching licenses

When switching and re-assigning licenses in the team sometimes and internal server error was raised. This is now resolved.

[FIXED] Some datasets showed insights that did not exist in the folder content overview

Datasets that are part of one or more Comparisons appeared to have insights that did not exist. This bug has been scoped, and has been resolved.

13 February 2026

[ADDED] Organization admins can now activate/deactivate users

Previously, organizations needed to contact GetFocus to deactivate users and free up seats, creating delays when teams needed to rotate access across multiple members.

With this update, organization admins can now activate or deactivate users directly from the Team management view. Seat usage and inactive members are shown in real time.

Deactivated users cannot log in, but their historical data remains intact and becomes accessible once reactivated. A 24-hour cooldown period is enforced before a deactivated user can be reactivated.

[CHANGED] Faster LLM filter processing by reducing wait times

Previously, under high load, LLM filters could spend longer than expected waiting in the queue because tasks that were not currently processable remained in the queue and slowed down overall throughput.

With this update, tasks that cannot be processed immediately are now temporarily moved out of the active queue, allowing eligible LLM filters to be picked up faster. Blocked tasks are retried automatically at increasing intervals that reset over time, improving overall queue efficiency and reducing unnecessary waiting.

[FIXED] Improved file system performance for large workspaces

Previously, as the number of files and folders increased, certain file system queries such as loading and exploring folders could become significantly slower. In extreme cases, this could result in timeouts or errors when retrieving content.

This has been addressed with backend performance improvements to file system queries, ensuring faster and more reliable loading of folders and resources.

[FIXED] Patent families showing representatives with no text

Previously, a patent without text could be shown as the representative of a patent family, even when other family members contained full text. This could result in empty or misleading views when opening patents from filtered datasets.

This has been fixed, and the platform now selects a representative patent that includes available text whenever possible, ensuring a more complete and useful reading experience.

29 January 2026

[ADDED] Public release of Agents Beta

Agents Beta is now available to all users with a Strategic package, following a limited beta period for early testers.

Agents Beta introduces an agentic workflow that guides you from defining a technology question to generating actionable insights—combining conversational input with automated scouting, patent landscaping, LLM filtering and comparison charts, and saving a significant amount of time.

The agent helps translate your intent into a clear problem statement, automates technology scouting and patent landscaping, and keeps you in control through review and approval checkpoints at every step.

Once processing is complete, you can Chat with, edit, and export your dataset just like any other project in Odin.

[ADDED] Feature Packages: Strategic and Research

We’ve introduced two feature packages, Strategic and Research, to better align the platform experience with different user needs.

The Research package focuses on patent data and landscaping workflows, while excluding the features related to Technology Improvement Rates (TIR, Cycle Time, Knowledge Flow charts) as well as Agents.

The Strategic package continues to include full access to all features, including TIR-related charts and Agents.

Existing users are migrated to Strategic package, and new users are placed on the Research package by default, with package access managed by GetFocus admins to ensure each user sees the features most relevant to their work.

[CHANGED] Enhanced search and LLM filtering logic in Agents Beta

Limited context in search terms and LLM filters can lead to fewer or less relevant patents being retrieved. With this update, search terms and LLM filters leverage even richer context than the previous version to further improve patent relevance.

Search queries now use the exact technology description from the Scouting step combined with the application context derived from the Problem Statement, while LLM filters have been refined to be more consistent with GetFocus prompting guidelines.

[CHANGED] Renaming projects before Landscaping in Agents Beta

Previously, projects created in Agents were automatically named based on the initial chat response, which could result in long or unclear names and make projects difficult to find later in folders.

With this update, you can now rename your Agents project before Landscaping begins, directly from the Landscaping approval step. The project folder will be created using the updated name, making the project easier to recognize in your workspace.

[CHANGED] Technology (de)selections now persist in Agents Beta

Previously, when users deselected technologies in a scouted list, those selections were lost when asking a follow-up question in the Scouting step or when navigating back from the Landscaping step. The list would reappear with all technologies re-selected, forcing users to redo their work.

With this update, the final state of technology selections is now preserved. When the same scouted list is returned, it reflects the user’s previous selections. If a new scouted list is generated, all technologies will continue to be pre-selected by default.

[CHANGED] LHS navbar now collapses automatically in Agents Beta

Previously, the side navigation remained expanded when entering Agents, which could feel cramped on smaller screens and reduced available workspace for agentic workflows.

With this update, the left hand side navigation bar automatically collapses when users enter Agents, providing more screen space and a more focused experience. Users can still expand the bar.

[FIXED] Data point tooltips being obscured by chart controls

Previously, when working with large datasets, hovering over chart lines to view data point values could result in the tooltip being partially covered by the Select Charts control.

This has been fixed, and data point tooltips are now displayed in the foremost layer, ensuring values are fully visible and easy to read during chart interactions.

[FIXED] Incorrect pagination in Country of Origin chart dropdowns

Previously, the Cycle Time and Knowledge Flow dropdowns in the Country of Origin chart displayed top n-1 countries instead of the expected top n.

This has been fixed, and the dropdowns now correctly show the top n countries as intended.

[FIXED] Unable to approve Problem Statement in Agents Beta

Previously, the Confirm button could fail to appear in the Problem Statement step of Agents Beta, sometimes occurring randomly and more frequently when users edited messages before the problem statement output or attempted to edit the problem statement while it was still streaming.

This could block users from approving the problem statement without refreshing the page, and now has been fixed.

[FIXED] Chat responses in Agents Beta hanging indefinitely

Previously, the Agents chat would occasionally get stuck showing a blinking cursor with no response, requiring users to refresh and re-submit their initial input to recover the output.

This has been fixed, and chat outputs in Agents Beta now reliably complete and return responses without hanging.

[FIXED] Buttons now prevent duplicate actions during processing

Previously, some buttons across Odin did not show loading or disabled states while actions were processing. This allowed multiple rapid clicks, which could lead to unintended duplicate actions (such as creating multiple copies, submitting the same request multiple times, or triggering inconsistent UI behavior).

This has been fixed by adding proper loading and disabled states to key actions across the app. Buttons now clearly indicate when an action is in progress, block repeated clicks until completion, and re-enable correctly once the action finishes.

26 January 2026

[FIXED] Landscaping caused errors when a folder was deleted during processing in Agents Beta

Previously, if a user deleted an agentic workflow folder while landscaping was still processing, the job would continue running on the backend and result in errors or inconsistent states.

This has been fixed, and landscaping jobs are now properly stopped and cleaned up when a folder is deleted, preventing backend errors and ensuring a more reliable experience.

21 January 2026

[FIXED] Agentic Search (in Search and Agents) resulted in critical errors when no negative examples where found in the labelling process

The search process involves an LLM labelling families positive/negative for the given search query. In some (rare) cases the LLM does not classify any patents negative (all positive). In another edge case, the LLM found only one positive label. Both resulted in critical errors. These edge cases have now been covered and gracefully handled so the search process can continue.

[FIXED] Searching through files and folders was "buggy"

When searching through files and folders, the UI was sometimes "flickering" on keystrokes. Also clicking into matched folders resulted in redirects to the root folder instead of the target folder. This has now been fixed.

[FIXED] The results in the left-hand-side folder navigation panel are not always sorted alphabetically

The folders in the left-hand-side folder navigation panel were sometimes sorted based on created time rather than the intended alphabetical order. We debugged the underlying issue and fixed it.

[FIXED] Error message appearing while navigating through projects and moving projects saying "Error fetching subfolders: no data"

Occasionally this error messages popped up. The root cause has been identified and fixed.

[FIXED] Values while hovering over linecharts are not ordered by their value

We added ordering by value of multi-line charts to make the charts more readible.

[FIXED] Search and LLM-Filter tasks originating from Agents were occasionally "stuck" in a Queued or Processing state

We have made some improvements to ensure the stability of the queued tasks such that they will not get stuck anymore.

5 January 2026

[ADDED] Explicit queuing states for LLM filters in Agents Beta

Previously, LLM filters did not clearly communicate when they were queued, initializing, or processing, which could make it unclear whether a filter was actively progressing or stalled.

LLM filters now show explicit loading states, providing better visibility into filter progress and improving overall transparency.

[ADDED] Improved Agents Beta messaging and guidance

Agents Beta now includes detailed loading states for each agentic step, showing exactly what the agent is doing at any given moment.

We’ve also added a Help Center link directly in the placeholder for easier access to guidance, along with informative messages inside Advanced Settings to clarify available options and behaviors for search terms and LLM filters.

[ADDED] Automatic generation of comparison dashboards in Agents Beta

Previously, users had to manually create comparisons, adding extra steps to the Agents workflow.

Agents Beta can now automatically generate comparison dashboards per folder, allowing users to review and analyze results immediately without additional setup.

[CHANGED] Improved patent retrieval and relevance in Agents Beta

Previously, search terms and LLM filters in Agents Beta used limited context from the problem statement, which could result in fewer retrieved patents or less relevant results, especially for smaller datasets.

With this update, search terms and LLM filters now incorporate more context from the problem statement to improve relevance. In addition, datasets smaller than 1K patents are handled differently to retrieve a broader initial set of patents, which are then LLM filtered using the problem-statement context, resulting in higher patent counts and more relevant results overall.

[CHANGED] Clearer error message for “not enough labels” in Agents Beta

Previously, when a user ran into a “not enough labels” issue, a vague error message was displayed and made it difficult for the user to understand what went wrong or how to resolve it.

With this update, Agents Beta now displays a descriptive error message that explains the issue, helping users quickly identify what went wrong.

[FIXED] Errors when saving comparisons with long file names

Previously, creating or saving a comparison with a very long name could result in an error. Even after shortening the name, the update was not reflected in the backend request, preventing the save from succeeding.

This has been fixed, and updated file names are now correctly applied and saved without errors.

[FIXED] Edit button in Problem Statement modal not opening the text area in Agents Beta

Previously, clicking the Edit Problem Statement button from the Problem Statement stepper would scroll to the text area in the chat but would not open it for editing.

The button now both scrolls to the correct location and opens the text area, allowing users to edit the problem statement smoothly.

[FIXED] Retry button not responding in the folder content area in Agents Beta

Previously, the Retry button shown on datasets in the folder content area did not respond, forcing users to open the dataset itself to retry an LLM filter.

This has been fixed, and users can now retry LLM filters directly from the folder content area.

[FIXED] Chat with Set/Invention state management issues

Previously, streaming chat responses would stop when users navigated away from the active chat, limiting the ability to multitask across conversations.

Chat streaming now continues running in the background, allowing users to switch between multiple screens while chat responses continue processing.

[FIXED] Incorrect processing messages for LLM filters on large datasets

Previously, datasets larger than 10K patents would still display messages such as “processing the first 5K patents,” disregarding the recent limit increase.

Dedicated and accurate status messages are now shown in the dataset view for processing LLM filters on datasets larger than 10K patents.

18 December 2025

[FIXED] Previously created Odin Agents (Beta only) getting "stuck" in scouting flow

All created Odin Agents before the 17th December release would get "stuck" in scouting, and would never proceed to the next step. This issue has been scoped and fixed.

[FIXED] The link in the email when an Odin Agent (Beta only) completes redirected users to the Search page instead of the project.

The email that we send to inform you about an Odin Agent being done preparing your landscape includes a button that redirected to the general Search page instead of the project folder the Odin Agent created. This is now fixed.

[FIXED] When creating an LLM-Filter we warned you that it will only consider the first 5.000 results, while in reality it was considering the first 10.000 results

LLM-Filters can only process a limited amount of patents. This limit used to be 5.000. With the 17 December release, we increased this limit to 10.000, but the warning message did not reflect that. This is now fixed.

[FIXED] Odin Agent (Beta only) Problem Statement stepper improvements

Clicking "Edit statement in chat" through the Problem Statement stepper would scroll to the problem statement text area but not open it. This is now fixed.

Problem Statement would not be properly formatted in the edit modal accessed through the stepper. This is now fixed.

[FIXED] Show a "Queued" state to the LLM-Filters

In order to handle the requests introduced by the release of Odin Agents (Beta only), we need to queue LLM-Filter requests to handle the load. Queued requests will be picked up as soon as there are resources available to handle the request. For this we now added a state to reflect this to the user.

17 December 2025

[ADDED] Introducing: Odin Agents Part 2 (Beta users only)

With this release, we introduce the second step of the Odin Agentic Workflows, the technology landscaping agentic workflow, to a select group of early access users.

The technology landscaping agent would:

Create patent search terms and LLM filters based on the job-to-be-done inferred from the problem statement, as well as the selected technology.

Automatically create patent datasets that are broad enough to include indirect or early-stage innovations, yet anchored enough to remain within the meaningful technological orbit of your problem.

Automatically apply LLM filters and organize the patent datasets under folders determined by the technology groups from the previous Scouting step.

Support advanced settings and comparisons, allowing you to adjust the search terms and LLM filters, as well as create charts to compare the datasets.

[ADDED] "Select all" in comparison selection

Previously, dataset selection for comparisons could only be done one dataset at a time, which made it clunky. Now you can select all datasets in a folder at once using the “Select all” button.

[ADDED] Quick dataset duplication from the dataset view

Previously, dataset duplication was only available from the project folders area, which was unintuitive and slowed workflows when users wanted to experiment with variations without overwriting the original dataset. Now you can duplicate a dataset directly from the dataset view using the action menu (three dots), without navigating back to your folders.

[CHANGED] LLM filters can now process up to 10K patents

Previously, LLM filters would only be applied to the first five thousand patents in a dataset, occasionally causing users to split their datasets, apply LLM filters separately, and then merge the LLM-filtered datasets in order to analyze them together.

With this update, we are increasing the LLM filter limit to ten thousand patents, allowing for fewer manual workarounds.

[FIXED] Folder list not being scrollable in the save dialog

Previously, the folder list in the save dialog could not be scrolled, making it impossible to view or select folders beyond those initially visible. This has now been fixed, and the folder list is fully scrollable so all folders can be accessed.

[FIXED] Not being able to create nested folders while saving chats

Previously, creating a nested folder when saving a Chat with Invention would fail, redirecting users back to the root folder and preventing the chat from being saved in the intended location. This issue has been fixed, and chats can now be saved correctly within nested folders.

[FIXED] Status filter counts not updating after applying other filters

Previously, the Status filter counts in patent datasets did not update after applying filters and continued to reflect the unfiltered dataset. This has been fixed, and Status counts recalculate based on the patent family count in the filtered dataset.

28 November 2025

[FIXED] Incorrect reporting of family status

Users have reported incorrect family statuses (e.g. Pending where Inactive was expected). This frequently happened for families having very old members.

Users have reported an increased amount of Unknown family statuses.

We have throughly reviewed how we compute the family status. We included a condition such that families where all members are older than 25 years old, are per definition considered Inactive (even though the reported status from our data provider does indicate that the patent is Pending).

[FIXED] "Server Error" in Agents Beta in Safari and Firefox browsers

Users have reported a "Server Error" in Agentic Workflows when using non-Chromium browsers. This has been resolved now.

[FIXED] Saving an item by "Double Clicking", would save the item twice

Users have reported that if they (accidentally) click "Save" multiple times, the iterms are also saved multiple times. We released a patch that prevents this from happening by blocking the user to save another time while we are processing the request.

25 November 2025

[FIXED] Missing References in Chat with Invention

Chat with Invention would occasionally not include a References section at the end of its response, which has now been fixed.

[FIXED] Hallucinated Responses in Chat with Invention

Chat with Invention would hallucinate rather than not answer when the information requested by the user was not available in the patent (e.g., a table inside the patent uploaded as an image). It now warns the user that it cannot access this information and does not attempt to answer the question.

[FIXED] Tracking workflows making use of an LLM Agent of Summarize Patents step would silently fail

Users have reported issues with Trackers that included an LLM Agent and Summarize Patents step. The trackers would silently fail. We have debugged the issues and resolved them. Also we have taken additional measures to avoid such errors in the future.

22 November 2025

[FIXED] Error in Chat with Set

Chat with Set would error out or remain stuck in conversations with large datasets. This was due to reaching compute constraints. We have increased our compute resources, resolving this issue.

[FIXED] Chat with Invention only on representative patent

Chat with Invention would only chat with the representative patent regardless which member of tha patent family has been selected by the user. This bug has now been resolved making it possible to chat with the selected members.

[FIXED] Clicking on Publication Number hyperlinks in chat would break parts of the UI

When clicking on a Publication Number hyperlink returned in a chat conversation, it sometimes happened that the UI would freeze and no new chats could be started unless you refreshed the page. This has now been resolved.

[FIXED] Missing folders or content in projects when there exist a lot of items

Users reported missing content in their folders when having a lot of items in one folder. We debugged the issue and resolved it. Users should be able to see all stored folder content again.

[FIXED] Automatic generation of titles in Agents Beta would sometimes fail

When starting an Agentic Workflow, we automatically generate a title for that conversation. This title generation would occasionally fail. We debugged this issue, and resolved it.

[FIXED] LLM-Filters would occasionally get stuck

After releasing new infrastructural changes to make the LLM-Filters more scalable, we have observed more issues with LLM-Filters getting stuck in a processing state. We have debugged the issues and released a patch for this.

20 November 2025

[FIXED] Error in Chat with Set

Chat with Set would error out or remain stuck in conversations with large datasets. This was due an error in the data reduction agent, which has now been fixed.

[FIXED] TIR Forecast Input form in Dataset "Overview" and Comparison pages

Fixed the non-responsive input form on TIR Forecast graph in the datasetet "Overview" tab and the comparisons page. Changes to the cost, performance and rate inputs for the technologies and segments now correctly produce changes to the graph data.

19 November 2025

[ADDED] Introducing: Odin Agents Part 1 (Beta users only)

With this release, we introduce the first step of the Odin Agentic Workflows, the scoping & scouting agentic workflow, to a select group of early access users.

The scoping & scouting agents would:

Enable interactive conversations, so the system can understand your goals, constraints and context with minimal effort.

Automatically translate your requirements into a well-defined problem statement suitable for technology discovery.

Generating structured, easy-to-understand technology checklists highlighting the most relevant emerging and established solutions.

Support iterative exploration, allowing you to adjust assumptions or refine the problem and immediately see how the list of potential technologies changes.

[CHANGED] Infrastructure and stability improvements to file exports, LLM filters and tracking workflows

We have upgraded the backend infrastructure and code that powers long-running, automated and/or compute intensive features like Tracking and LLM-filters.

The changes aim to improve the stability, scalability and resilience of these services.

24 October 2025

[ADDED] Test button to verify SSO setup

You can now test whether your SSO configuration is working correctly before enabling it company-wide. This allows administrators to confirm setup success in advance.

[ADDED] Improved references in Chat with Invention

Chat with Invention now includes references to the specific paragraphs or sections of the patent used in generating an answer. This makes it clear which parts of the document the AI relied on.

[ADDED] Improved breadcrumb behavior in projects

We’ve enhanced breadcrumb handling for deeply nested folders. The navigation now avoids UI overflow and maintains better readability.

[FIXED] Chat with Set returning no results despite available patents

Resolved an issue where Chat with Set incorrectly reported that no patents were found. It now properly identifies and retrieves patents from the selected dataset.

[FIXED] Regenerate button duplicating messages

Fixed an issue where regenerating responses in Chat with Invention/Set/Insight caused duplicate messages to appear in the conversation history.

[FIXED] Incorrect family member opening

Fixed an issue where opening a saved family sometimes opened a different family member (from the same family) than intended.

[FIXED] Chat with Insight creating new chat sessions

Resolved a bug where Chat with Insight started a new chat for every input instead of continuing the conversation in the same thread.

[FIXED] Ad blockers and corporate security conflicts

Fixed an issue where certain ad blockers or corporate security measures occasionally disrupted the application interface.

13 October 2025

[ADDED] Support for idle session timeout

You can now request a configurable inactivity timeout mechanism that logs users out automatically after a set period (e.g. 30 minutes) of inactivity.

[ADDED] Disclaimers for chat features without patent data access

Chat features that do not have access to patent data now include disclaimers. The AI will explicitly indicate that it cannot access patent data and advise users to use the Search tab to find specific patent information.

[CHANGED] Branding update #1

This release introduces the new GetFocus logo and updated typography in Odin, aligning the service with our new brand and styling.

[CHANGED] Chat with Invention always quotes references from patents

We have updated the LLM instruction for Chat with Invention to always respond with reference quotes from within the patent text, giving you more confidence and visibility into the LLMs reasoning.

[CHANGED] Breadcrumbs display the last couple folders

The breadcrumbs display to make it easier to go back to the previous step. Instead of only visualising the first and last folder, the new breadcrumbs display the last 2 folders making it easier to trace your steps back.

[FIXED] Bug fixes dynamically switching between Chat with Set and Chat with Invention conversations

When inside a 'Chat with Set' window, clicking on a referenced patent (from the results) correctly shows that invention, but further initiating a new Chat with Invention, conversation would keep you inside the Chat with Set conversation.

This bug would cause Chat with Invention conversations to return blank results and navigating to a different patent or Chat with Invention would further break the breadcrumbs.

This release makes the dynamic switching between different types of "Chat with" conversations is more stable.

29 September 2025

[ADDED] New: SAML SSO Setup & IT-Admin Role

We’ve introduced a brand-new SAML 2.0 Single Sign-On (SSO) setup flow in Odin, making it easier and more secure to connect your organization’s identity provider.

Highlights:

New SSO Configuration Wizard with clear Our Config and Your Config steps.

Support for IdP metadata XML or manual entry of SSO URL and Issuer.

Signing certificate upload for explicit trust selection.

New IT-Admin role with access to SSO setup only which does not count towards seat usage.

22 September 2025

[ADDED] New Patent Trends charts

We have added 2 new patent trends charts, namely a line chart variant of the Overall Patent Trend (Technology) and a new Overall Patent Trend per Country of Origin (Country of Origin) chart, both of these represent a breakdown of the total number of patent families per publication year.

The Overall Patent Trend chart now also appears in the list of comparison charts, allowing you to compare the trends between datasets.

[ADDED] Feature Flags

Introducing feature flagging via Amplitude, this enables us to conduct safer experimentation, run targeted A/B testing and controll rollouts before full deployment.

[FIXED] Bug fixes with comparisons and expanded patent family card

Datasets with the same name would combined into the same line in a comparison graph, this has now been fixed and comparison charts correctly visualize datasets with the same name.

The expanded patent family card now correctly displays the Applicant field, which earlier would often show up as "Unknown" even though the compressed patent family card displayed the Applicant.

[FIXED] Bug fixes and changes with Project management

Changed the default view of the new folders navigation panel and the folder contents to be sorted alphabetically instead of chronologically.

Fixed bug with the contents of the folder navigation panel not updating until refresh after moving/duplicating a folder, while also making the folder navigation panel resizable.

The save button now correctly displays on a new chat once it is ready, without needing to refresh the page.

Fixed bug with renaming datasets from the projects page.

Fixed bug with opening saved patent families from the "Recent Files" section.

Fixed bug with generation of long chat titles and references to patents from within Chat with Set conversations.

Made the "Share" pop-up consistent when sharing directly from the folder navigation panel vs. when sharing from the folder contents panel.

Miscellaneous minor improvements and bug fixes related to charts.

1 September 2025

[CHANGED] Navigation bar redesign

We moved the navigation to the left to create a cleaner layout and improve usability.

With the sidebar always visible (and collapsible), it’s easier to switch between key sections without losing focus on your work.

[ADDED] New "Projects" page

We designed the new Projects page to make it easier to stay organized and productive. By combining a clear index with a detailed view, you can explore projects more intuitively, switch context faster, and work without losing your place.

The Projects page now gives you a desktop-style experience for browsing and managing your work. You can:

Use the folder navigation panel to navigate projects easily.

Open projects in the folder content panel to see folder contents, metadata like created dates and file counts, and take actions such as Compare and Create folder.

Quickly jump back into work with the new Recent files section at the top of the detail view.

[ADDED] Save more insights

Introducing the ability to “Save” more insights and interactions directly from the UI, so you can bookmark and organize all your work. The complete list of "savable" entities now includes:

Chats

Chat with Sets

Sets

Comparisons

Patent Families

Chat with Inventions

Saved Chat with Sets, Chat with Inventions and Patent Families, are grouped directly under the dataset. You can open them by:

Clicking the blue “X insights” link in the dataset’s metadata row.

Hovering over the dataset row and selecting the Show insights button that appears.

This grouping keeps datasets and their insights together, so you can quickly review findings in the context of the underlying patents.

[ADDED] Navigable breadcrumbs

Breadcrumbs are now shown in more places across the workspace, including:

Projects detail view

Saved comparisons

Saved datasets

They provide a clear path of where you are and can be clicked to jump back to any folder quickly, making navigation across complex project structures much smoother.

[CHANGED] Dataset page header redesign

The new design centralizes key actions, improves visibility, and creates a cleaner layout so you can act on datasets with fewer clicks.

Actions such as Compare dataset, Chat with set, Export, and Save are now grouped together in a consistent row above the dataset.

Navigation tabs (Families, Overview, Tracking) are cleaner and more prominent.

[ADDED] New "Compare Datasets" pop-up

Introducing a brand-new compare modal for selecting and comparing datasets.

Browse datasets in a split view with the project tree on the left and dataset details on the right while seeing important context like number of families, filters applied, insights, created date.

Select one or more datasets and launch comparisons seamlessly.

[ADDED] Persistent Chat History

We now also persist all Chat with Set and Chat with Invention conversations, including unsaved converations.

You can search or browse past chats and bookmark them to revisit them later.

[ADDED] LLM Filter Enhancements

The filters embedded with the LLM filter during creation can also be viewed when an LLM filter is applied.

LLM filters were also sped up 4x from ~2 patents/sec to ~8 patents/sec

[ADDED] Search Suggestions

We’ve introduced search-as-you-type suggestions to the search bar for all of the new search types. This includes both autocomplete suggestions as well as suggestions from your search history.

[FIXED] Many miscellaneous bug fixes

Improved accuracy of orgnisation search results which previously also inlcuded near matches eg. "Tubel" woud also match "Tubes" which would not happen anymore.

Improved accuracy of the patent assignee/organisation field.

Tech maturity graph no longer displays data incorrectly as a %.

Exporting of large dataset would hang indefinitely or error out, this is now fixed and the system is now equipped to deal with large exports better.

Searching a large list of publication numbers is much more performant and less prone to errors.

Reduced hallucinations and improved consistency in the LLM filtering results.

Counts in the Filters did not always match the counts presented in the graphs.

Publication Number search can now search on more (20.000 publication numbers) if the publication number does not include a kind-code. Previously this limit of 20.000 publication numbers could only be achieved if the kind-code was included in the publication numbers.

Fixed the problem where the Chat would unintentionally trigger Scouting for Emerging Technologies.

[ADDED] Filtering on Country of Origin

We now support filtering the dataset on the Country of Origin. We support filtering on Country of Origin of the patent's Organization as well as the patent's Ultimate Owner. The Country of Origin filters can be found under the "Advanced Filters".

[ADDED] Graphs for Country of Origin to dashboard

We added graphs to visualize the distribution of the Country of Origin statistics in the dashboard. We added the following graphs:

Families, Per Country of Origin: This chart shows the distribution of patent families across different countries of origin. Each bar or slice represents the number of patent families owned by companies headquartered in that country.

Improvement Rate, Per Country of Origin: This chart shows the average yearly improvement rate segmented by country of origin. The improvement rate reflects how quickly a technology improves in terms of performance per cost, and is based on the cycle time (speed of iteration) and knowledge flow (impact of those iterations).

Cycle Time, Per Country of Origin: This chart shows the average cycle time segmented by country of origin. Cycle time measures how quickly new generations of a technology appear, with shorter times indicating faster iteration.

Knowledge Flow, Per Country of Origin: This chart shows the average knowledge flow segmented by country of origin. Knowledge flow reflects how impactful new inventions are, measured by how often they are cited by later inventions in the first three years after publication.

[REMOVED] Graphs about Organization Quality

We have removed the following graphs from the dashboard:

Improvement Rate, Per Organization

Cycle Time, Per Organization

Knowledge Flow, Per Organization

5 May 2025

[REMOVED] Unused predefined questions

We have removed and merged some of the predefined questions inside the chat functionality. The following predefined questions have been removed from the predefined questions:

Technology Comparison: removed completely from the list.

Emerging Technology Scouting: baked into the Technology Scouting.

Technology Summary: merged into follow-up questions.

[ADDED] Suggesting follow-up questions in chat

In the chat, we now generate follow-up questions to help you through some predefined steps. For example:

Technology Scouting: scout for technologies within a technological field.

(Optional) Evaluate for Application Area: requires you to provide an application area as input to evaluate the scouted technologies for.

(Optional) Summarize Technologies: will summarize the scouted technologies.

In the chat, we let an LLM generate follow-up questions to help you explore and learn more about specific technologies.

[ADDED] Support for reasoning models

Throughout the application, we added the support for reasoning models. Reasoning models are better at complex tasks and are generally more accurate at the expense of speed. We have added a button to control whether to use the reasoning model. Reasoning models are available at the following places:

Chat

Chat With Invention

Chat With Insight

The reasoning model used is OpenAI's o3 model.

[CHANGED] Updated chat models

Throughout the application we have been upgrading the LLM models (non-reasoning) used to align best with their use case:

Chat: OpenAI's 4.1 model

Chat With Invention: OpenAI's 4.1 mini model

Chat With Insight: OpenAI's 4.1 mini model

AI Summary: OpenAI's 4.1 mini model

LLM-Filtering: OpenAI's 4.1 mini model

Agentic Search: OpenAI's 4.1 mini model

Smart Search: OpenAI's 4.1 mini model

All of the models have been configured to optimally use their context window. This means that all models use their maximum output token limit to ensure that long responses can be streamed to you.

We have made significant efforts to mitigate and reduce the halucinations that have been reported in Chat With Set.

[FIXED] Publication Search not able to find existing publication number

Recently a bug was introduced that caused Publication Search to not be able to find publication numbers that exits. This was fixed.

[FIXED] Timeouts where data was accessed by publication number

Recently a bug was introduced that caused timeouts on endpoints accessing large lists of publication numbers. For example in:

Publication Search

Publication Number Filter

Listing Publications inside the Chat With Set screen

[FIXED] Organizations and Ultimate Owners in the Family Card were not matching those in the Filters.

In some cases, it happened that the Organizations and Ultimate Onwers that were shown in the Family Card were not shown inside the Filters. This is fixed now.

[ADDED] Introducing the new 'Agentic Search' -- a new AI agent driven technology search type

Agentic Search deploys an AI agent that interprets your query, explores related patents, reads through them, and learns what’s truly relevant — all to deliver better, more precise results

The AI agent also tunes and picks the best similarity threshold for your query to ensure that what you see is more accurate unlike the static threshold value for the legacy Smart Search and Exact Search types.

You can find the new and old search types by clicking on the menu option and enabling the Advanced search settings

[ADDED] Step-by-Step Progress View for Patent Discovery

We’ve introduced a new progress tracker that shows you exactly how the system finds patents for your search.

You’ll now see a step-by-step breakdown of how your input is interpreted, how patents are explored, and how the most relevant results are selected — all in real time.

This new view gives you more transparency, more control, and clearer insight into how results are being generated.

[CHANGED] Updated UI/UX of the Search and Search History pages

The search page now has a new updated look with quality of life changes

[ADDED] Applicant field to patent family cards

We have added a new property Applicant propterty to the patent family card

[FIXED] Bugs with various chat components

If you initiate a Chat with Publication, close it before/while it's streaming and initiate a new Chat with Publication the chat window would stream the response from the first chat window. This has now been fixed.

We have fixed the "retry" action for the first Chat with Insight message

[FIXED] Bugs with exporting datasets

Fixed the bug where the Export button in a dataset would get stuck in the processing state or be unresponsive to clicks.

The exported file would have missing data in a few columns. Now all columns will have appropriate data points

[FIXED] Bugs with publication number search

Searching with certain publication number formats would cause the system to match millions of patents incorrectly. The system now handles unknown publicaiton number formats better.

[FIXED] Empty tracking emails or misformated tracking emails

Tracking workflows would send out empty emails daily due to errors arising in the automated processing of the workflows. Now, the system would handle these errors gracefully and will not send out empty notifications.

Formatting of some tracking workflow emails has been fixed.

[FIXED] Minor bugs with datasets and insights

Clicking the "thumbs down" icon on a patent family card would not actually remove it from the returned result, the application now ensures that downvoted patents do not show up in the list.

Insight would show multiple year graphs even when the publication date range filter would be set to a single year. The insights now show a dynamically scaled time axis that is more considerate of the filters.

[CHANGED] Updated UI/UX for the filters

We've updated the filter section of the dataset to make it more intuitive and user-friendly:

Wider Layout: The filter panel is now wider, improving readability and making it easier to craft and manage your filters.

Simplified Selection: It's now more intuitive to find, select, and deselect organizations (e.g., in the Organization or Ultimate Owner filters), making it easier to build the dataset you need.

Streamlined Design: Less frequently used filters have been moved into a new “Advanced Filters” section, giving more focus to the most common ones.

[FIXED] Bugfixes related to LLM filtering

We've resolved several issues to make working with LLM filters more reliable and consistent:

Flickering Progress States: Fixed an issue where the progress indicator for LLM filters would occasionally flicker.

Incorrect Filter Display: Resolved a bug where LLM filters from a different dataset could briefly appear.

UI Polishing: Made various small visual and styling improvements to ensure a smoother experience overall.

[NOTICE] Unsaved sets older than 1 month will now be deleted periodically

We introduced an automated process that checks for and deletes any unsaved sets that are older than a month every night outside business hours.

[ADDED] 'LLM Filtering' Let our AI agent search for patents matching your custom search instruction

The LLM Filtering feature allows you to instruct an LLM powered assistant to filter the patent families in your dataset based on any condition. For example, you can instruct the assistant to "Search for all patents that relate to cryogenic carbon capture" and the assistant will then evaluate every patent from your dataset one by one to check if it's relevant per your instruction.

At the time of release LLM Filtering allows you to queue 1 filtering task per dataset and a total of 3 filtering tasks across all datasets combined.

[ADDED] Get help from one of GetFocus' analysts directly in Odin

We have added a chat feature that allows you to connect with one of our analysts. Our analysts are available to assist you with any questions you may have. You can find the chat option at the top right corner of the screen, next to the menu.

[FIXED] View range interaction on Organisation Size and Organisation Quality graphs

The Charts years range selection would incorrectly behave as an additional publication year filter for the graphs inside the Organization Size and Organization Quality categories. This has now been fix such that the "View range" selection only affects the axis boundaries for temporal graphs.

[FIXED] The similarity histogram now correctly displays the total number of patent families for each similarity score.

Previously, the histogram in the right-hand-side filters showed the count of patent families per individual similarity score. However, it should have displayed the cumulative total of patent families up to (and including) that score. This issue has now been resolved.

[FIXED] Performance issues for comparison graphs.

The tooltips in the comparison graphs were lagging in some cases. This has now been resolved.
